Description:

Atticus Spatial Information Management Ltd. (ASIM) is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Intermediate GIS developer to join our team at our Coquitlam office. The successful candidate will work with our Software Development team to develop, test, and maintain ASIM’s desktop and/or Internet applications. As an integral part of the development team, the position requires demonstrated technical abilities in the areas of various ESRI technologies, Microsoft SQL Server or other RDBMS, and Microsoft .Net programming. The position also requires strong organizational and documentation skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

As a GIS developer, the candidate will be expected to:

• Analyze user requirements and complex business processes, and translate them into functional specifications;
• Implement functional specifications and create stable and re-usable libraries for ASIM’s commercial software products;
• Work in team to plan, design, code, test, and maintain application components;
• Provide technical support to project team or end users as required;
• Analyze and amend software errors in a timely and accurate fashion;
• Provide status reports, requirements and related documentation.

Minimum Requirements:

The successful candidate must possess the following:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or related subject;
• At least 3 years of professional experience in software development;
• At least 1 year of professional experience in development applications using ESRI ArcGIS technologies;
• Proficient in .Net, C#, ASP.Net, XML or other industry-standard programming languages;
• Good working knowledge of SQL Server and/or Oracle;
• Understanding of client/server technology, server architecture, and networking protocols;
• Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills and attention to detail.
• Team-oriented approach;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Self motivation and strong work ethic;
• Strong organizational skills.

Desired Skills:

The following skills are desirable, but not mandatory:

• Certified MCAD or MCSD;
• Experience in the forest or natural resource sector;
• Working knowledge of ESRI ArcSDE server software;
• Familiar with database design and development utilizing case tools.
