Description:

Atticus Spatial Information Management Ltd. (ASIM) is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Junior GIS analyst to join our team at our Coquitlam office. The successful candidate will work as part of our GIS team on a variety of projects ranging from landuse planning and resource management related analysis, to implementations of our commercial software solution CoreMIS. The available position requires demonstrated technical abilities in the areas of various ESRI technologies. The position also requires strong organizational skills, excellent work ethic and the desire to learn and grow with the team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

As a Junior GIS Analyst, the candidate will be expected to:

• Assist Senior team members in the acquisition and assessment of data;
• Assist with project workplan and methodology development;
• Work independently on specific project tasks including data loading, data editing, data analysis and data modeling;
• Provide excellence in internal and external customer service; focusing on producing high quality results;
• Represent ASIM to clients, workshops, meetings, etc. as required.

Minimum Requirements:

The successful candidate must possess the following:

• University degree or equivalent technical diploma in a related subject;
• 2+ years experience in GIS;
• 2+ years technical experience with ArcGIS family products;
• Hands-on experience with geodatabases is essential.
• Previous experience in project management is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Experience in the forest or natural resource sector;
• Team-oriented approach;
• Self motivated and directed;
• Strong organizational skills.

Desired Skills:

The following skills are desirable, but not mandatory:

• Working knowledge of ArcInfo AML;
• Good understanding of the ArcInfo library;
• Sound knowledge of Microsoft Access and SQL Server
• Experience in database modeling;
• Experience in remote sensing.
